From Feed to Food: How to Get Started with Forever Food
You've taken a fantastic first step for your dog. With Forever Food, you choose real nutrition without fillers, without nonsense. To help you and your dog get started as best as possible, we explain in 5 steps how the transition works, what you can expect, and how to store everything.
Step 1: The Transition
Your dog has probably been used to the same food for a while. And that requires a gradual transition. Switching completely from one day to the next? That leads to problems. Therefore, we recommend taking 7 days.
Day 1 to 3: a quarter Forever Food, the rest the previous food.
Day 4 and 5: half Forever Food, half the previous food.
Day 6 and 7: three-quarters Forever Food, a quarter the previous food.
After that: fully Forever Food!
Do you notice it's going a bit too fast? Then go back 2 days to the previous ratio and then slowly build it up again. Does your dog have a sensitive stomach? Then take smaller steps over more days. Every body is different, and that's perfectly fine.
Step 2: Dosing and Serving
We often get the question: why do I give so little? That's very logical. Forever Food is air-dried with pure ingredients and many nutrients. No fillers, no nonsense. Every bite is therefore much richer, meaning your dog gets more with less in the bowl.
The daily portion for your dog can be found on the bag, or in your email if you ordered via the questionnaire. Serving is simple: put the portion in the bowl, add warm water, stir briefly, and wait a moment. The amount of water is stated on the bag, but you can also adjust this to what your dog likes best.
Step 3: What You Can Expect
In the coming weeks, your dog will transition from feed to nutrition. This is what most owners observe:
Day 1 to 7: the transition period. Your dog gets used to the new food, which you sometimes see reflected in the stool or coat. Completely normal.
Week 2: the gut flora begins to adapt. The stool becomes firmer, smaller, and less smelly. Less bad stuff in, less bad stuff out.
Week 3 and 4: you'll see a difference in coat and energy.
Month 2, 3 and beyond: this is where you'll see the big differences. Calm skin, healthy weight, and a very happy dog.
You have 30 days to try this, risk-free. So give your dog that time, and don't check on day 3 if it "already works."
Step 4: Storage
One of the big advantages of Forever Food: you don't need a freezer. Store it dry and cool, out of direct sunlight. Unopened, it has a shelf life of up to 15 months. After opening, close the bag, squeeze out the air, and seal the zipper tightly. It will then remain good for another 3 months.
